TISA backs government decision to widen ISA investment range

July 2, 2013

TISA has expressed its support for the government’s decision to extend the choice available to ISA investors by including company shares trading on a recognised stock exchange within the EEA.

Jeffrey Mushens, TISA Technical Director said:

“We have long held the view that the current anomaly whereby small and mid-cap shares can be held in a SIPP but not in an ISA should be addressed. It is also very pleasing that the new rules apply equally to Junior ISAs and Child Trust Funds as the range of qualifying investments has always been broadly similar to that available for an adult ISA.

“As well as giving investors a wider choice, this decision should also provide a welcome boost to help SMEs looking for a capital injection to grow their business”.
